Centennial Celebration in Mason City

Centennial logo(1).jpgWright on the Park, The group restoring the Park Inn Hotel in Mason City, Iowa, will be holding the Centennial Celebration the week-end of September 10 through 12. Many of the events are free and open to the public.

Friday evening’s event is a presentation on the SC Johnson Research Tower by Mark Hertzberg, author of a forthcoming book on the building. Mark was recently granted access to the now-closed building, and his presentation will include he photographs of the interior. (7 PM, MacNider Museum)

Saturday, 10 AM - Noon there will be children’s art activities at East Park and at 2 PM Richard Guy Wilson, author of The Prairie School in Iowa will give a presentation titled “Improving the Modern Home — 1895 to 1915 — New forms inspired by the Arts and Crafts and Prairie School movements”.

Saturday’s highlight will be The Wright Affair, held at the Mason City Country Club.

The week-end will conclude with the 100th Anniversary celebration held at the Southbridge Mall Center Court, 2PM to 4PM will include refreshments and photo displays. Board members of Wright on the Park will be available to answer questions.
