19th Amendment

The newspaper for Oak Park and River Forest, The Wednesday Journal, has an article on the role of Oak Park citizens in the suffrage movement (this week marks the 90th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment). The article mentions that Anna Lloyd Wright as an early member of the Chicago Political Equality League.

The article does not mention that all of Wright’s early clients were supporters of the suffrage movement (I’m going on memory since I’m at work and away from my books — I just read this in Robert McCarter’s Frank Lloyd Wright and I’ve forgotten his source for it). It’s an unsurprising fact, but an interesting piece of context.
