I mentioned a week ago the special events scheduled For the week end of September 10-12 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Opening of the Park Inn Hotel. Here is a newspaper article with more details.
The highlight of the weekend may be the two lectures, one Friday, the other Saturday:
A free lecture series will feature award-winning photojournalist and author, Mark Hertzberg at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum. Hertzberg is the director of photography at the Racine (Wis.) Journal-Times and serves on the board of directors of the Frank Lloyd Wright Wisconsin Heritage Tourism Program.
He is the author of “Wright in Racine” and “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hardy House.”
Hertzberg will speak on Wright’s SC Johnson Research Tower, which is also the title of his new book which will be available at the lecture.
On Saturday, Sept. 11, Richard Guy Wilson, professor of architecture history at the University of Virginia, will speak on “Improving the Modern Home-1895 to 1915-New forms inspired by the Arts and Crafts and Prairie School movements” at 2 p.m. at the museum.
Saturday morning, there is a free family event featuring art projects for children in grades K-5 and Sunday, 2-4PM there will be free refreshments as part of a community celebration of the date.
