25 E. Cedar to be Demolished

In the aftermath of the Taliesin murders, Frank Lloyd Wright briefly in a house at 25 East Cedar St, several blocks south of the Charnley House, on Chicago’s Gold Coast (Google Map here). For some of the time, Wright’s companion was Miriam Noel.

The home has recently sold for $1.5 million; the new owners bought the property only for the land, they plan to demolish the house. The 1887 house was damaged by the construction next door of a mansion for a member of the ever-present Giannoulias clan. Last Summer, Blair Kamin wrote about the house and the efforts of preservationists to save it. Chicago Magazine wrote about the damage to the house last year here.
