Barnsdall Park Not to be Privatized

The city of Los Angeles has stepped back from its plans to turn over the museum and sites at Barnsdall Art Park to private, non-profit organizations. The Hollyhock House was not part of the privatization plan, but the entire park, including Hollyhock, was a bequest from Wright’s client, Alice Barnsdall to the city to provide an accessible arts center. The city had hoped to save nearly half a million dollars with the transfer.
